Week 4 Using WWW 21 March 2008

1Lecture:

There was no class for this day it was Good friday so i had to look over the blackboard and read through the lecture notes which i had to do it in my own time.
it briefly explains how to use World Wide Web explains the historical prespective of the website. The web is access of sounds, video,documents and other source that give information. The lecture note explains the internet was developed by Time Berners-Lee in 1989, he created the internet to make possible to share research information.

2Tutorial:

I had to do this activity at home since it was Good friday and it says that we should look at these websites;

www.haggishunt.scotsman.com
www.molossia.org
www.martinlutherking.org. the 4 clues that was noticable that i have picked up are;

A)This site http://www.haggishunt.scotsman.com/ attempts to appear authentic if various facts of about haggis every time the site is refreshed and further involve its authenticity by having a competition supported by three professional associations, Gleneagles Hotel, MPS and The Scotsman Publications Ltd.

B) Four clues that give away each site as being a spoof?

Accuracy
Information provided here is highly accurate.
the reference list provided is well linked..and highly accurate in my opinion.

Authorship
It wont show who it was written by there for its not dat accurate but it shows when it was posted by news week magazine 1988.

purpose
The purpose is to give the user's information on MLK history, his hostrical writings, truth about king,death of the dream etc

Over-all worth.
The web-site is highly effective at some stage it wont provide as many information.

The other thing that was asked for us to do was what we expect of the web MLK and i expect a brief history of his life and when i had a look through the website Marthin Luther King there was some false information they have said and one of the other thing that was mentioned in the web was that he has slept with three woman and beating them to death i thought that was just out of line i think that wasnt the real story.

This week there were two areas for extra reading both containing information on the history of the WWW. With the original development being a device called a Memex which had the ability to store memory, to make and follow links between documents on microfiche. Provided are a variety of links to other websites of information on how it all started.

The second reading website as follows http://www.let.leidenuniv.nl/history/ivh/frame_theorie.html is a website designed to inform the reader of the history of the world-wide web, giving information in chapters titled, The development of the world-wide web till 1960's, from arpanet to the World-Wide Web, History of Electronic Mail, Search Engines and chapter 5 Basic Net Data.
